Temptations

Temptations. They come in all shapes and sizes, some are more appealing than others and some seem like they are screaming at you "You know you want me! Hurry, just once won't hurt." The sad thing is that no matter how bad you want something if there are consiquences that are attached to that particular thing you are going to have to deal with them.
The hardest part about resisting temptation is that it is so appealing and looks perfect in that moment but you know looking back on it you will definitly regret it.
I mean I have the perfect example- My parents are going out of town this weekend and I'm going over to my friends house. On friday night we were supposed to go over to this girls house and spend the night there. I asked if they were going to be drinking or what, and my friend says "what happens, happens" after he said that it made me think. There are so many things wrong with the whole situation in the first place, first of all we would be lying to his parents to go there, second- neither of the girls are christians which is a BIG NO NO. I mean why would I want to put my self in a situation where I have a very high chance of failing. That is why in the Bible its tell us to surround ourselves with fellow believers because they will encourage us and help keep us accountable. I doubt the girls parents will be home which makes it just that much easier to fail, and especially coming from hume that is not something that will help further my walk with God. The one thing I can use this situation as is a disciplship opportunity to help share my faith with my friend and show him that the Devil puts all these distractions in our life to try and lead us astray when in reality we need to distance ourselves from all that garbage....I guess what I am trying to get across is the fact that temptations are hard to say no to but you just need to do it. I mean who doesn't want to spend the night at a girls house when her parents aren't home, however just because it sounds good doesn't mean it is!
I talked about this whole situation with someone that really has her head on straight and is constantly helping me grow in the Lord. I mean sure there are wiser people out there but everytime I have a problem I can't just go running to the President, or the head pastor of my church and just sit down and talk to them for an hour and a half. That is why God puts fellow believers in our life, they allow us to share whats on our hearts and they help keep us accountable because temptations are everywhere.
